Moses Salazar
Moses Salazar is a devoted father, husband & coach who was born in New Braunfels, Texas. Originally a US Army sergeant at Fort Hood, he transitioned into military defense type of work which he has been a part of ever since he moved to Arizona in 1998.
A whole decade went by before he developed his passion for exercise & fitness. Initially starting out with mixed martial arts (MMA) at LA Boxing in 2009, he then transitioned to personal training with his biggest clients being Mike Goldberg & Jay Glazer.
He then decided to focus on boxing, co-owning Knockout Boxing Club for a few years, where he was the strength & conditioning coach for local professional & amateur boxers.
His latest martial arts focus has been Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, training under Jay Pages since 2013. Jay awarded Moses his black belt in December 2021 & BJJ Social Club was subsequently born in early 2022.
Moses spends most of his days exercising, but the remainder of his time is spent on either self-improvement (watching jiu jitsu, reading, journaling, etc.) or hanging out with his son, wife & family.
Star Moreno
Star Moreno was born in SoCal but was raised & grew up in the valley since 1999. Throughout childhood, her dad immersed her in all things sports so naturally she grew up competing.
Star came upon Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2013 & has trained under Jay Pages ever since. She was a very active competitor from white to purple belt, which landed her on F2W 99 here in Scottsdale. She detoured from BJJ competition after finding CrossFit in late 2017, but always found her way back to the mats.
Her biggest training setback came in late 2021 after she underwent a prophylactic double-mastectomy with reconstruction as she is BRCA2+. After focusing on her mental health following her recovery, she returned to her new mats here at BJJ Social Club. She was then awarded her black belt by Lisa & Jay Pages in December 2022.
Star divides up her time by working in healthcare, training/running the gym & hanging out with her husband & family all while striving to become a firefighter.
Jeremy Belnap
Jeremy Belnap, a native Arizonan, discovered an affinity for grappling while wrestling at Mesa High School under the great Bobby Williams. Not long after graduating in 1997 he was introduced to Jiu Jitsu via a mutual friend who was training at the legendary Gracie Academy in Torrance. In late 1999, he found a home at Pedro Sauer’s first affiliate school, Absolute Martial Arts, where Jiu Jitsu was permanently infused in his blood. A true student of the arts, he has searched out and trained with many of the greats in several grappling disciplines over the span of nearly 28 years. With one of his proudest accomplishments being having received his Black Belt from Jay Pages in August 2018, he continues to strive to always be learning. With an eye for detail, Jeremy loves nothing more than to see the light bulbs go off when a student grasps a new technique or concept. Teaching truly has become the most fulfilling part of his journey on the mats.
Outside of the gym he is an entrepreneur, a lover of craft food and drink, and most importantly a father and husband.
